Frisky Paperboy Report – October, 2009

Posted by desslock on October 24th, 2009

What else is blogosphere talking about? Here are some things that caught our eyes:

  • There’s a rather lively debate on the number of men of color cast in main California gay porn productions. Victor Hoff at his excellent MOC blog makes his case here. Interestingly, the folks over at Unzipped take issue with his numbers over here.

We at Friskynews.org almost never discuss politics. However we’ll take this opportunity to note that Hoff’s observation on the paucity of men of color is restricted to recent Internet companies. These practices go back way before the major web sites he refers to even opened for business. Also, be careful: Numbers and statistics can be misleading, which is why Unzipped criticized Hoff as employing affirmative action-style numbers to his analysis.

    Moving right along…

  • Tis’ the Halloween season: Lavender Lounge has photos depicting Pre-Halloween Pumpkin Butt Painting You know, we were surprised that Lavender Lounge did not blog anything about the passing of Soupy Sales.
  • Dewayne in San Diego has an insightful interview with the owner of OTB Video about the very troubling subject: Will Piracy Kill the Video Porn Star? [Our answer - only as long as Google and other search engines prominently enable people to find pirated movies.]
  • J.C. Adams catches up with Blue Blake. [Ah, we have fond memories of movies like Cowboy Rides Again]
  • GayPornBlog has posted a nice photo set from this year’s Folsum Street Fair.
  • Is Mason Wyler channeling Kanye West’s Weltanshauung in his October blog post, Heartless?

Frisky Paperboy Report – April, 2009

Lots of blogging going on lately in the gay porn ether.

The GayVn Awards show on March 29th inspired all kinds of reactions. There’s cheers and joy from GayPornBlog, who was associated with the awards event. Blogs singing odes to joy come some of the night’s big winners: Raging Stallion director Chris Ward and their exclusive sexual powerhouse Ricky Sinz.

Vinnie D’Angelo just glows in writing his personal report of the GayVNs, proudly showing the awards won by him and boyfriend Logan McCree on his blog.

Michael Lucas and Brent Corrigan are talking about their own personal experiences from the show.

Our friends at Lavender Lounge were hired as the official photographers for the 2009 GayVNs. As always, Mark excels in capturing all the show of any kind of show in vivid color. Lounge members can spend many entertaining evenings browsing through them all.

In less dramatic news, there is a great new travel article about saunas in Austria and Germany on XX Factor.

There’s an investigative article about premature ejaculation from the guys at QueerClick.

Here are some interesting things out in the blogosphere right now:

  • Matt over at Nightcharm just penned this thoughtful essay, Islands Unto Ourselves: The Generational Abyss Between Gay Men, which looks at social constructs between younger gay men and older gay men. There’s already lots of comments.
  • Lavender Lounge has posted a number of very interesting topics lately. Most important, there’s a great post about Zsa Zsa Gabor’s 92nd birthday. I didn’t know that she had been married nine times. There’s also photos of items on sale from the upcoming Michael Jackson auction, and an interesting bit on how bodybuilder porn star Billy Herrington has become a celebrity in Japan. [Friskyfans movie review: Billy Herrington's Body Shop]
  • Jean Franko posts photos from his Christmas vacation in Rio de Janeiro
  • Boyish Berlin porn star Jan Fischer, a Chi Chi LaRue favorite (No Cover), is DJ’ing now. He can be heard live on Saturday nights on Shape-FM.de.
  • Here’s something salacious: Check out SDborderBoys’ blog post about Eddie the wrestler boy, and the related video clip showing his “lookalike son” wagging around his erection.
  • GayPornBlog announces the 2009 GayVN Awards Nominations
  • .

  • Did you know that Ralph Woods writes a very active blog?

Frisky Paperboy Report – December, 2008

Hark! Hark! The Frisky Paperboy has arrived!  He is calling out a few of the latest stories and other news in the gay porn blog world. Here’s a run down of some things posted recently.

  • Escort Rates and Payment: The Happy Hooker himself, Brandon Baker, writes an interesting essay about the business of escorting, addressing the key question: How much do you charge? That is a very important question, after all should your services be worth a K-Mart Blue Light Special or a satisfying dinner at a Michelin three star restaurant?
  • Our buddy Mark over at Lavender Lounge has posted several interesting blogs about 1970s San Francisco and tying it to the just released Hollywood movie Milk, which has received very promising reviews.
  • If you were in an adult social network on Ning, MOC Blog reports that they are no more.
  • Kannst du Deutsch? One of our favorite German language blogs runs through upcoming New Year’s Eve parties happening in Cologne, Germany. Sounds fun! And just how sexy are these parties???
  • Hard economic times got you down? If you get lemons, make Lemonade. Bel Ami just did, according to J.C. Adams’ blog announcement about our favorite Prague-based movie studio.
  • At long last, Dean Monroe is blogging again.
