Following April’s announcement that Studio 2000 is out of business, followed by the subsequent purchase of their film catalog by AEBN/Raging Stallion/Falcon, we thought it would be fun to trace back over some of our favorite movies by the legendary gay porn studio.
Sitting down to write this I rediscovered a treasure trove from a studio which for years smoothly operated as the perfect marriage between gay porn and successful entrepreneurial business. Started in 1992 by John Travis and Scott Masters, Studio 2000 pioneered the concept of exclusive models, developing the instantly recognizable West Coast look onto movies that carried top notch production values and memorable storylines. Perhaps you will recognize some of them:
Studio 2000 Videos
Studio 2000′s first release, Take Down, was a modest wrestling movie designed around the rugged blond Adam Hart. It was not long before the studio was soon firing on all cylinders. For example:
- Forced Entry 1995
There may have been bigger porn stars than Kevin Dean, but just not in the pants. This prison film became so big, it even makes a cameo in John Waters’ Cecil B. Demented.
- Grease Guns 2 1997
The Grease Guns movies were one of the first to delve into the car mechanics theme, and they are still arguably the best. We liked Grease Guns 2 better because of the sexy Jeff White, as well as butch bottom Kurt Stefano.
- Cadet 1998
Ethan Marc gets drummed out of the military in this military academy film highlighted by the dynamite pummeling of powerbottom John Ross by Chris Steele.
- Czech Point 1999
If there’s a Top 10 list of best gay porn movies ever, Czech Point should be on it. This is because of its use of the sensational Czech model Pavel Novotny. (Find him later in the studio’s vampire flick Prague Rising) Soldiers fucking on film have never been captured in a hotter light.
- Dream Team 1999
This inspired work from Jerry Douglas will have leave every viewer wondering "Wow, they sure don’t make movies like that anymore."
- Cruising It 2003
Newly signed porn stars Ryan Alexander and Trevor Knight take a sexy trip up the Pacific Coast Highway. This cute video also features newly minted porn star Brent Everett.
- Deep Plunge 2003
Doug Jeffries filmed a handful of Latino-heavy videos for Studio 2000, and every one is worth seeing. This hot selection features blond adonis Matt van Dorn getting ravished at the Casa de Hombres by Tico Martin and Rafael Carreras. Woof!
